Yellow Aura Yoga
In 2017, I founded Yellow Aura Yoga — a boutique studio in downtown Geneva, Illinois — with the goal of creating a warm, inclusive space for movement, breath, and connection. After more than a decade in fast-paced corporate marketing, yoga had become my personal refuge. Building the studio was my way of sharing that refuge with others. Over the course of two meaningful years, Yellow Aura offered Vinyasa, beginner, and restorative yoga classes, hosted community events, and built a loyal base of students and instructors who brought joy, energy, and presence into the space each day.
Bringing a Brand to Life
My marketing background played a key role in launching and growing the studio. I conducted local market research to position the brand, built an initial email list through a class series in the park, and developed loyalty programs and automated email communications to retain members. From designing the website and managing social content to securing local press and running targeted ads, I applied a full-funnel strategy to build awareness and sustain a loyal client base.
Why Yellow Aura?
The name Yellow Aura Yoga was inspired by a moment during a community yoga class, when a fellow instructor told me she saw a yellow aura around me while I taught. Curious, I discovered that a yellow aura is associated with spiritual awareness, creativity, and joy — all values that guided me in launching the studio. It felt like the perfect intersection of who I was becoming as a teacher and what I hoped to share through the space.
Though the studio closed in 2019, the spirit of Yellow Aura lives on — in the classes I’ve taught since, in the relationships formed there, and in the way I approach all of my work: with presence, creativity, and connection.
